Top 5 Phuket Beaches

If you are considering a beach holiday in Phuket, Thailand, there certainly are a lot to choose from.  Secluded and romantic, beaches for sunbathing and ones with entertainment.

I have put together a list of my Top 5, to help you make your choice a little easier.

1.     Laguna Beach

The stunning beach has white, powdery sand. The entire beach is surrounded by coconut palm trees and rock formations at either end of the beach and down the middle. The water is clean, clear and is great for swimming.

There is a small restaurant along the south end of the beach that serves great Thai food and has a stunning view of this magnificent beach and the Andaman Sea.

2.   Surin Beach

Surin Beach is a 1 kilometer long, strip of golden sand. The beach is famous for its crystal clear water. You can jet ski, snorkel and go for a reasonably long walk.

The top of the beach is where you can find restaurants both Thai and International to suit all of your dining needs.

If you spend much time at Surin Beach you are guaranteed to find a nice local spot that suits your tastes. It is a great place to grab a beer or a bite to eat as the sun sets off the Andaman Coast. It really is stunning.

3.    Kata Beach

Kata beach is lined with Casuarina trees, and is ideal for romantic walks along the beach.

You can relax and enjoy the beautiful, Phuket weather as the local food and beverage vendors will serve you drinks and food where you are located on the beach.

The Phuket Surfing Contest, is an annual surfing competition that usually takes place around mid-September, it has some pretty amazing waves and is an ideal location for surfers in particular.

Kata Beach offers pretty much every beach activity there is. You can rent jet-skis, ride on a banana boat or go para-sailing. The snorkeling at the north end of the beach is a great activity, with a large coral reef occupied by many colorful fish.

4. Freedom Beach – Patong

Freedom Beach is one of the least accessible of all the Phuket beaches and is only accessible by boat but it is well worth the effort. As this beach is harder to get to, it is secluded and will often have no people on this beach at all.

The beach itself is a stretch of beautiful, powdery, white sand and is soft and ideal to walk on. The entire beach is secluded in a private bay. Surrounding the beach are hills covered in thick jungle, giving the entire place the feeling of an exotic beach hideaway. Unlike a lot of the popular beaches, Freedom Beach is cared for by the locals, ensuring that it retains as much of its natural beauty as possible. There are a number of small restaurants along the south end of the beach if you fancy a bite to eat.

5.     Kamala Beach

Kamala Beach is a stunning, 2 kilometer stretch of white sandy beach, that is the perfect destination if you want to relax away from the crazy nightlife and loud buzz of Patong.

In my opinion, the best part of Kamala Beach is the northern end of the beach. This has less tourists and seems to be much quieter at times than the busy south end of the beach.

Kamala Beach is a great place to visit if you want to spend the day at a beach and avoid all the hassles of the more popular beaches.

It is family friendly and is one of the more popular Phuket beaches for a reason.

Like the others it has some great restaurants surrounding it as well as hotels and luxury villas.
