The best beaches in East Phuket

Each coast on the beautiful island of Phuket offers something completely different. Phuket really does have the best beaches.

In the east you can find the shallow waters of Phang Nga Bay which are also protected meaning they are a stunning choice as beaches go. The area is renowned for its local culture which makes it a popular choice for expat communities too.

The beaches are a natural beauty, and the area is not as touristy as some others – classically beautiful. The beaches are also quiet, so perfect if you really want to get away from it all. There are fewer hotel options in this area but a number of private luxury villas for rental which give you the perfect escape.

cape-panwa-2Cape Panwa is a popular choice along the East coast, and it boasts a number of Thai village communities with local markets as opposed to more tourist centred commercial units. This long peninsula boasts several small beaches, with the clearest waters to the south due to the mangroves in the north. This area is extremely tranquil and peaceful.

Chalong is another great resort which has slightly more to offer on this sleepier side of the island, albeit slightly less beach. Here you can find multiple bars and restaurants and a bit more life with its famous bay and port.

Koh Siray Island is another option which has narrow and quiet beaches. Separated from the main island by a small channel and a mangrove forest, the island has calm quiet waters and beaches with a coarse sand. There is only one hotel on the island, and so offers a feeling of exclusivity.

Naka Yai Island also lies just offshore, it is a rather large island, with beaches surrounding. The beaches here have a wilder feel to them thanks to a backdrop of coconut plantations and other large greenery. This is one of the East coast’s hidden gems for sure.

The beaches here may not be the most famous, but you can most definitely get a real Thai experience on the east coast. Families are also keen on the area’s beaches because of the shallower waters. For a more peaceful experience, the east coast really does have something special to offer – a great place to truly get away from it all.
