How to be Healthy on Holiday
Introduction
Whether you are staying in a luxury villa, lying on the beach, ir just generally traveling around Thailand you can still juice and stay healthy.
Juicing
Juicing detoxifies your body from things like air pollution, chemical absorption (this could be anything from shampoo, detergent exhaust fumes and pesticides). Also all the processed foods that are loaded with sugar, colourings, hydrogenated fats, alcohol and animal fats to name a few.
Vitamins
When we consume only juice, your system is flooded with an abundance of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. These help your body with to remove toxins, lower the risk of serious diseases, strengthen your immune system and basically reboot your overall energy levels.
Personally, I have always looked after myself and juicing is a very good way of ensuring to ensure you receive all of the vitamins and minerals you need.
It is a great opportunity to see what your body is deficient in. I never realised how eating a vitamin deficient diet could affect your energy levels and mental acuity.
I love food, so I do not juice solely, I did find a 6 day juice fast a real challenge. So the way I do this is I have a juice for breakfast. It really does give a boost and so many of those nutrients and vitamins your body needs.
When you go on holiday there is no need to ditch the juice, although in some areas this could be a challenge. In places like Phuket, this is easy.
Asian Fruits
With Thai native fruits such as mangosteen, mangoes, pineapple, coconut, rambutan, durian, papaya, custard fruit, rose apples and jackfruit.
My favourite recipe, a real cleanser, is as follows:
Ingredients
1 teaspoon fresh ginger from one (1-inch) section fresh ginger
1 fresh galangal 1 tablespoon fresh
Lime juice from 1 lime, peel, seeds, and pith removed
2 cups of fresh mango
3 cups of cubed pineapple
2 tablespoons of fresh coconut milk
Obviously, there are many recipes as there is so much fresh produce to choose from but this recipe is definitely a favourite.
The juice is sweet and tasty and so refreshing. Which is brilliant if you are staying in a particularly hot climate.
In summary
If you really want a truly healthy holiday, you could book a yoga or health retreat, these can be booked in luxury hotels, spas and villas.
Yoga will be conducted in the venue or on a beautiful white sandy beach in the sunshine.
Looking after yourself can actually be fun!
