PHUKET – A WORLD OF WONDER

From the ancient mysterious culture to the neon lights of Patong, Phuket has something to offer everyone.

Until China recently built an immense structure, Phuket boasted the tallest free standing Buddha statue in the world. Aptly named ‘Big Buddha’ this serene attraction, is a shrine to everything Buddhist in Thailand.

The Monks make themselves accessible and available to tourists of all religions and are always more than happy to converse with tourists about endless subjects. At fixed times throughout the day, the monks offer blessings to tourists, a special touch that many regard as a highlight of their holiday.

Big Buddha is located in Chalong, the busiest port in Phuket. If culture is your thing, make a whole day of it. Visit big Buddha and the temples in Wat Chalong, which translates into Temple Chalong.

The simply stunning and ornate architecture of the many temples and buildings in this area is simply stunning.
The monks open the doors to the temple each day and will offer blessings to everyone, newlyweds, babies, children and tourist alike.

Many tourists consider Chalong as the gateway to the islands. You can charter a luxurious speedboat or simply take one of the many scheduled departures to any of the islands the Andaman coast has to offer.

A day trip to Phi Phi is a hugely popular trip, taking in the powdery white sands of Maya Bay, the location of the Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Beach’.

Many of the speedboats will tailor a day to your requirements. A sure fire hit with the tourists is Monkey beach, be sure to take a banana to feed the inhabitants, they are friendly and fun to interact with.

If luxury is your thing, a trip to Racha Yai is a must. Racha Yai (translated Big King) is a privately owned island. This island also has a sister island called Racha Noi. Both of these boast an incredible beach, with stunning restaurants.

Snorkeling is also a must whilst in Phuket with so much marine life to look at, you will not go away disappointed.

After a day on a luxurious speedboat, beach and or snorkeling, what better way to finish the day than a traditional Thai massage or beauty treatment. There are many high end spas on the island, that offer a multitude of beauty treatments and massage.

Be sure to ask for the soft option if you are a novice. These massages often default to hard and are not for the faint hearted. If you want total relaxation, then an oil massage is the way to go. You will walk away totally rejuvenated and relaxed.

Whatever you enjoy, Phuket has something to offer. Crazy nightlife, tranquil beaches, luxury villas and hotels. Just decide where you want to go, relax and enjoy!
